Sprite HD media player

The Sprite^® DV-S1, from MedeaWiz, is a high quality, high reliability, low cost interactive media player that plays digital video and/or audio media files from a standard SD or USB memory device.  The video output is digital at up to full HD (1080p50/p60) and the audio output is stereo (or mono) digital or analog.  Analog SD (PAL or NTSC) video output is also available on a separate connector.

The Sprite^® DV-S1 is now end-of-life and out of stock.  The new Sprite^® 4K DV-S4 is a fully data and connection compatible alternative to the Sprite^® DV-S1.

Continuous looping playback begins when power is applied. The Sprite plays most high definition file types including MPEG-1, 2 and 4, H.264 and WMV9 from a regular high-speed SD memory card or USB drive. It can be used as an audio-only player playing MP3 or WAV files. It has a 2-way serial communications port at 3.3v or 5v TTL level to work with an external control device such as a PC, show-controller or PLC to play and control up to 200 media files on command.

The Sprite gives continuous feedback reports on its serial communications port telling which file is playing, and the end of file mark. It has a single direct push-button switch input that can trigger on contact-close or contact-open to trigger the playing of a single media file.

When playing video files from a playlist there are no black frames or a black "glitch" displayed when looping or changing files. The Sprite has a 5V DC output to power a PIR motion sensor, the optional Hydra I/O expander unit or the 8x78-IN expander board or another small load.

The DV-PIR2 is a motion sensor that triggers the Sprite to play a single media file once it detects the presence of body heat.

The Hydra I/O expander provides numerous input and output options and combinations to the Sprite enabling it to have multiple push-button switches and LEDs connected.  DMX-512 control is also available. 

The 8x78 expander board provides up to 8 trigger inputs to the Sprite.

Video outputs are HDMI and Composite video, stereo audio on HDMI or 3.5mm jack connectors.
